Former Ilva of Taranto, meetings between the Government and representatives of the related industries and trade unions.
They took place yesterday, in the Monumental Hall of the Presidency of the Council, two meetings between Government and representatives of the related industries and unions on 'ex Ilva of Taranto.
During the first meeting, the Government informed the related companies on the latest developments of the procedure underway to safeguard the company's production continuity. In particular, the Executive illustrated i measures already adopted for the protection of workers and related companies and announced its intention to implement a single social safety net. The Government also updated on the request for the request for extraordinary administration of Acciaierie d'Italia Spa (AdI) advanced to Mimit da Invitalia Spa, public shareholder of AdI, with the aim of continuity and production relaunch of the plants. The Government has reported that in a few days they will be appointed extraordinary commissioners, ensuring that the choice will fall on figures who have specific professionalism and expertise in the steel sector and direct knowledge of the plants. The representatives of the related industries have put forward some proposals with requests for support to the companies, receiving assurances from the Government that they will be subjected to verification. The Executive has also confirmed that the discussion table will remain active until the conclusion of the former Ilva affair.
During the table with i representatives of trade union organizations the measures taken to protect workers starting from layoffs already guaranteed for the whole of 2024. And the Government has informed that the decree law “Urgent provisions to protect the related industries of large companies in a state of insolvency admitted to the extraordinary administration procedure”, currently being converted into Parliament, is susceptible to further improvements to guarantee the production and business continuity of the former Ilva.
The meetings were chaired by the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano, and attended by the Ministers of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, Labor and Social Policies, Marina Calderone and European Affairs, the South, Cohesion Policies and the PNRR, Raffaele Fitto.
For related activities, representatives of AIGI, Casartigiani Puglia, Confindustria Taranto, Confapi Taranto, Confartigianato Puglia, Federmanager, Fai Conftrasporto participated. Representatives of Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl, Uilm-Uil, Ugl Metalmeccanici, Usb were present for the trade unions.
