Defense: Minister Crosetto meets the leaders of the armed forces

On the morning of April 24, the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, met with the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Army Corps General Carmine Masiello, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Team Admiral Enrico Credendino, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Squad General Luca Goretti, the General Commander of the Carabinieri, Army Corps General Teo Luzi, the Secretary General of Defense, General of the Army Corps Luciano Portolano and the Operational Commander of the Joint Forces Summit, Army Corps General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.

“In the current geopolitical context, which is particularly complex –stated Minister Crosetto– it is essential to have a clear vision of the phenomena and intercept their evolutionary lines. We need to strengthen cooperation and coordinate efforts, adapting tools to changing needs, to guarantee the security of our country and contribute to international stability."

The Minister also underlined the need for the Armed Forces to increasingly integrate with each other and with those of Europe and NATO, in order to develop the synergies essential to face current and future threats. The meeting highlighted the need to review the structure and processes of the military instrument, develop a new national defense plan, integrated with that of NATO, return to the culture of readiness and invest in defense and security.

Unanimous approval was expressed for the constant commitment of the Italian Armed Forces to defend the fundamental values ​​of democracy and medium-high pace, confirming their crucial role in maintaining national and international security and stability.

The Minister then offered sincere praise to the Italian military for the work carried out and reiterated that the Government will provide Defense with the attention and resources necessary to face present and future challenges with determination and effectiveness, in the interests of the country.
