Culture, the call for the Italian Book Capital 2025 has been published

It was published on the website of the Directorate General for Libraries and Copyright of the Ministry of Culture on call for the award of the title of "Italian Book Capital" for the year 2025.

This prestigious recognition will be awarded to the Municipality that has best achieved the objectives of the improvement of cultural offerings, the growth of social inclusion and the fight against educational poverty, taking into account the needs of the local community of reference.

The title of Italian Book Capital is awarded for a period of one year.

By 8 July 2024, the interested Municipalities can present the dossier with the candidacy which will then be evaluated by a jury made up of 5 independent experts of clear fame in the culture and publishing sector. The jury will examine the applications and select up to 10 finalist projects which will subsequently be invited to public hearings.

By 30 November 2024, the jury will submit to the Minister the project of the city to which the title of Italian Book Capital for the year 2025 will be assigned.

The Italian Book Capital was established in 2020. To date, the Municipalities that have been awarded the title are: Taurianova (2024), Genoa (2023), Ivrea (2022), Vibo Valentia (2021) and Chiari (2020).
