Carbonia, on Saturday 5 March the Municipality will welcome the traveling exhibition "I open to UNESCO" with forty photographic panels.
From 5 to 10 March, the Municipality of Carbonia will host the photographic exhibition "I open to UNESCO", organized by the Sardinia towards UNESCO Association, with the collaboration of the municipal administration. The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday 5 March at 11 am.
The traveling exhibition was set up on the upper floor of the municipal library, in viale Arsia, where Around forty photographic panels will be on display depicting various Nuragic sites in Sardinia.
The mayor Pietro Morittu will participate in the presentation press conference for institutional greetings, the president of the council Federico Fantinel and the municipal council, as well as, naturally, the president of the association the Hon. Pierpaolo Vargiu. The intervention of the archaeologist Nicola Dessì is expected.
The association, which will celebrate its two-year anniversary in September, is working with the aim of proposing the candidacy of all the Nuragic monuments on the island as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entrance to the library is free and you can only access the premises if you have a strengthened Green Pass.
At 9.30, shortly before the inauguration to the public, a meeting was organized on the fascinating history of Nuragic archaeology, reserved specifically for school groups. With a joint note, Mayor Morittu and the president of the Vargiu association also invited the Mayors of Sulcis to the initiative to share together "what forms of collaboration can be activated with all the first citizens of the territory, in order to multiply the positive effects on the economy and cultural growth of Sulcis".
The exhibition follows the Library's opening hours, therefore it is open to the public as follows: Monday 7th, Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th March from 8.30am to 12.30pm and in the afternoon from 16pm to 19pm. Thursday 10th, in on the occasion of the closing of the exhibition, starting from 17pm, there will be a meeting held by the archaeologist Nicola Dessì who will discuss the theme of insularity.
