An initiative to raise citizens' awareness of the usefulness and convenience of public transport
Campobasso, from 17 to 31 December you will travel for free on public transport.
During the press conference held this morning at the Council Hall di Palazzo San Giorgio, mayor of Campobasso, Robert Gravina,Mobility councilor, Simone Cretella, and the president of the Council Commission Transports, Valter Andreola, they illustrated the initiative on free urban public transport that will be implemented and proposed by the Municipality of Campobasso in favor of citizens on the occasion of Christmas festivities.
“From December 17th until December 31st – explained Mayor Gravina – we, as an Administration, wanted to guarantee a free period for the use of the entire city public transport network, first of all to aim to concretely raise awareness among all Campobassans about the usefulness and convenience of urban public transport, even more so in a period like that of the Christmas holidays, notoriously characterized by a marked increase in traffic. In fact – added the mayor – the intention behind the initiative is also to allow full enjoyment of the many events which, thanks to the Christmas in the City calendar, designed by departments of Productive activities and Culture, are scheduled for the first days of this month in the city center, thus encouraging widespread sociality, outdoors and beyond, which will also be able to help and facilitate purchases from merchants and city shops, thus becoming a further piece of support for the I buy in the City awareness campaign, already launched by our Administration".
“With this initiative – declared the councilor for Mobility, Simone Cretella – there is no doubt that We want to act above all from a long-term perspective, inviting citizens to limit the use of private vehicles in favor of public transport during this holiday period, but We also want to encourage a reflection that leads to gaining confidence in more sustainable mobility systems, the only ones that can really allow us to develop ideas of liveability in the city that are different from the past and which can also serve to revitalize other productive aspects of our economic reality. local, for example, making us experience the city center as that sort of open-air shopping centre, made by local traders, which many of us have always hoped for".
“The initiative which will start on Saturday 17 December, also made possible thanks to SEAC – said the president of the Mobility Commission, Valter Andreola – it certainly will be useful for making the urban public transport service better known to those who do not use it, allowing him to become familiar with it in terms of economic, logistical and time convenience".
