Brescia, UBi Banca supports the “Brescia and Bergamo Italian capital of culture 2023” project

Bergamo and Brescia, the two cities hardest hit by the coronavirus emergency in our country, will be Italian Capitals of Culture 2023, an investiture sanctioned by the Relaunch Decree, which found wide public and institutional sharing, starting an alliance that becomes a symbol of rebirth and restart.

UBI Banca has expressed its intention to support the municipal administrations of the cities of Brescia and Bergamo to support the participatory community project "Brescia and Bergamo Italian Capital of Culture 2023", with a multi-year partnership that will accompany the cities until 2023.
In close synergy with the Municipalities, in the two-year period 2020-2021, UBI Banca is committed to further strengthening its support for the cultural system of Bergamo and Brescia, to guarantee the necessary refreshment for the city's cultural network, which has suffered huge losses generated by the pandemic. The relaunch of the large cultural institutions, which have already started the reprogramming of the schedules by developing innovative cultural projects, as well as the direct support to the network of cultural associations and realities in the territories, are the two strategic axes that will allow us to consolidate and relaunch the cultural system of the cities , to aim for the construction of collaboration and efficiency networks, as well as the involvement of the various cultural chains and the animation of the territories. A fundamental phase that will form the basis for the common definition of the "investment dossier" that the cities will have to present to the country by January 2022.
On this journey that will accompany the cities of Brescia and Bergamo until 2023, UBI Banca will be alongside the Municipal Administrations, as a partner in the implementation of the "Italian Capital of Culture 2023" project, thus collaborating in the process of valorising and promoting the cultural heritage of the Lioness of Italy and the City of the Thousand. A common path that could also constitute a significant driving force for the relaunch of the economic sector of the provinces, as well as a factor of further international qualification of the territories and of great social cohesion.
UBI Banca confirms its determination to remain alongside Bergamo and Brescia in the rebirth project that will lead them to be Italian Capitals of Culture 2023. A renewed commitment that testifies to the Bank's closeness to the two communities, to support a strategic planning that will allow the cities to establish themselves as centers of absolute European importance, where the production and use of art and culture will constitute levers of overall development for the territory . UBI Banca will be able to actively contribute to cultural planning, also by making available the tools, financial know-how and in-depth knowledge of the economic structure of the territories, to encourage the internationalization and digitalisation of the cultural offer, as well as the sustainability of the development and the bodies that will promote it.

It is a great sign of attention, nine and a half million euros is a significant sum, which can make the difference. Ubi's support for the city's institutions and cultural initiatives is certainly nothing new, but the financial and above all civic value of this allocation is certainly exceptional. The funds will be directed to cultural institutions, the world of associations and the cultural background, they will be used to strengthen the offer and support the widespread network of artists, musicians, actors and operators from the world of entertainment which is so precious for our territory. The path towards the year of Capital of Culture will also be an opportunity for all of them to give life to new projects and to grow. This injection of resources will allow us to do so. We are very satisfied and thank Ubi.

The decision taken by the Board of Directors of Ubi Banca is of great importance for Bergamo and Brescia. Our cities, hard hit from the Covid-19 epidemic, have chosen to start again together, sharing the candidacy for Italian Capitals of Culture 2023. A courageous choice, of strong symbolic value, which in a few weeks found the approval of Parliament, but which requires adequate means for the ambition of the project and, immediately, the securing of budgets

of the cultural institutions of the two cities, which in turn were heavily penalized by the consequences of the health emergency. We turned to Ubi and Ubi decided to be at our side, as many times in the past, on this occasion with an allocation of exceptional size and significance. It's not one sponsorship, but of a real partnership that will accompany Bergamo and Brescia until the end of 2023, and which will see Ubi involved in every phase of the planning of the Year of Culture. We are therefore extremely grateful to Ubi and happy to have it with us.
