Bilateral cooperation between Italy and Saudi Arabia on security

From 4 to 6 June, the event was held in Rome, at the Sala Europa of Palazzo Cimarra. 1st Italy – Saudi Arabia technical meeting on safety and protection.

The event, crowning the mission of the Minister of the Interior, which took place in Riyadh last September, was opened jointly by the Chief of Police - Director General of Public Security - Prefect Vittorio Pisani and by the Head of the Fire Brigade, Public Rescue and Civil Defense Department - Prefect Renato Franceschelli, by the Deputy Chief of Police for Coordination, Prefect Stefano Gambacurta, and the Supervising Advisor to the Saudi Interior Minister for International Partnership Programmes, Major General Mohammed Alhabdan.

The meeting, moderated by Prefect Annunziato Vardè, director of the Coordination Office, saw the participation of the General Commands of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, the Central Directorates of the Department of Public Security and the Department of the Fire Brigade, to start a fruitful dialogue between the two countries and to propose their respective excellences in the sector.

The works, spread over three days, were characterized by intense conversations which the experts from the two departments saw discuss profitably on the topics of expertise in order to strengthen the existing cooperation relationships in the security field between the two countries and open new possibilities for training exchanges and experiences between the institutions involved.

From the discussion, characterized by a serene and friendly atmosphere, a clear conclusion emerged desire of the parties to reach a rapid realization of the intentions of mutual cooperation through the development of initiatives on a training and technical-operational level, in the security areas of common interest identified during the work.
