Bari, 50 food parcels donated to the Welfare department by the Banco di Napoli foundation and intended for the most vulnerable families in the city were delivered this morning to Palazzo di Città. On this occasion thecouncilor Francesca Bottalico met Marco Tribuzio, general councilor of Banco di Napoli Foundation engaged in the solidarity project "A drop in the ocean".
The packages, consisting of basic necessities such as milk, tomato sauce, coffee, pasta, legumes, oil and much more, will be distributed in the next few hours to the beneficiaries of the project "No longer alone”, promoted by the Welfare department with the aim of counteract loneliness e improve the quality of life of elderly and frail people and to support autonomy paths for the social inclusion of people and families in conditions of particular vulnerability. They will be the street educators of the project to bring them to the homes of the families followed.
"Today's donation is a special one because for the first time the Banco di Napoli foundation wanted to support the most vulnerable families in the city of Bari - he began Francesca Bottalico -. Fortunately, these are 50 extraordinary packages, in the sense that for some time now, through vouchers and food kits, we have been trying to support people in difficulty. This morning we take the opportunity to thank the donors and meet those who during these hours will bring the food home to the families identified to share the Christmas atmosphere with them. In fact, street educators and beneficiaries will cook together what has been donated, as foreseen by the project, in order to accompany these people on a path of autonomy but above all to cultivate bonds and social relationships".
"A drop in the ocean is the name of the project we have been carrying out for a couple of years – said Marco Tribuzio -, aware of the fact that they cannot satisfy existing needs but in this way give a concrete signal of attention. We know that the Municipality of Bari is engaged in solidarity activities and we have decided to contribute with this donation. We are operational in all the regions of Southern Italy and, with this project, we wanted to recover the original function of the pawnshops and the Naples bank, namely to provide solidarity through credit, a practice today replaced by charitable initiatives".
