Ballots: the center-left wins in all the capitals. Schlein: «The cities reject the government, a message to Meloni».

Off we go bare in the 101 Municipalities that returned to vote for the ballot after the first round of elections on 8 and 9 June. The center-left wins by a landslide  this round, establishing itself at Florence (Sara Funaro), a Bari (Vito Leccese), to Perugia (Vittoria Ferdinandi), a Campobasso (Marialuisa Forte) and others Potenza (Vincenzo Telesca).

If we also count Massimo Zedda's first-round victory in Cagliari, the the center-left thus conquers all six regional capitals, also imposing itself on Cremona with Andrea Virgilio.

Il center just rejoices at Lecce with Adriana Poli Bortone. 

Turnout dropped further compared to two weeks ago: it stopped at 47%. The figure for the first round throughout Italy was 53,21%.

From Florence to Bari, from Campobasso to Perugia, from Potenza to Cagliari. It is irrevocable: the cities have rejected the right that governs and send a clear message to Giorgia Meloni. No more cuts to healthcare, no more low wages and no more differentiated autonomy". The secretary of the Democratic Party says so Elly Schlein, who called Funaro e Leccese to congratulate.

«Thanks to Bari for the great electoral result, we are only at the beginning because the hard work will only begin with the proclamation. It is an extraordinary result that goes beyond expectations. I appreciated the phone call from Romito who acknowledged the defeat and wished me good luck in my work". He said it Vito Leccese, newly elected mayor of Bari, just arrived at the electoral committee for the celebrations.

«I'm a little excited, I say it sincerely. I feel the great emotion of all these months, of being the first citizen of Florence. It was a very long and beautiful marathon". The newly elected centre-left mayor of Florence said this, Sara Funaro, winner in the runoff against Eike Schmidt.
