Agreement on the Theater of Rome. The Shareholders' Assembly has been convened for today and will approve the reform of the Statute.
Rome, fwhite air in sight for the governance of the Theater of Rome. The Members' Assembly, convened today at 15 pm, will approve the reform of the Statute which will introduce dual management, with the provision of the figures of a General Director and an Artistic Director.
"The agreement reached between the Ministry of Culture, the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Rome for the management of the Teatro di Roma is an important result for a cultural institution of the highest level. It is a good thing that a cultural excellence can have at its top two high profile figures such as the General Director, with strictly managerial duties, and an Artistic One, more dedicated to programming. Now the important thing is that a season of rebirth and strong valorisation of this Theater which has made the history of the city and the entire nation begins immediately.“, declares the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano.
"The dialogue between the institutions, between the members and founders of this extraordinary heritage that is the Teatro di Roma Foundation, wins, to which the completely renovated Teatro Valle will soon be added. The one shared with the Ministry and the Lazio Region is, in the given conditions, the best possible solution, because it is capable of ensuring alongside an artistic direction, the managerial function assigned to a General Manager. For us, respect for the prerogatives and role of Rome Capital and the definition of wide-ranging strategies in terms of attention to investments, contemporary artistic reality and new proposals have always been priorities; precisely the objectives on which we have aimed since we took office in the Capitol, putting an end to the commissionership and transforming the Association into a Foundation, equipped with a Board of Directors. Now we will go to the Capitoline Assembly to amend the Statute, as requested by the Council Chamber itself” claims the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri.
"I have always been convinced that institutional synergy and dialogue always bring good results. I express my deepest satisfaction with the agreement that, together with the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Rome, we have reached on the management of the Teatro di Roma. Through the ratification of a statutory amendment in fact, by the Members' Assembly, a path will be started that will lead us towards dual governance of one of the most important cultural institutions in the Capital, Lazio and the country. The figure of the Artistic Director, with managerial and financial autonomy for the planning and management of theatrical activities, will be joined by that of the General Director, who will be entrusted with the management of the administrative and accounting activities of the foundation. There can be no divisions on culture as the founding value of a community. Common sense and discussion prevailed, for which we worked, as the Lazio Region, until the last second“, explains the President of the Lazio Region Francesco Rocca.
