Deputy Minister Cirielli's visit to Kazakhstan ends

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmund Cirielli, concluded a three-day visit to the United States on October 31st. Kazakhstan, during which he co-chaired the IX session of the Italian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Working Group on Industrial and Economic Cooperation – the first in the last six years. Also present were representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, ICE, Confindustria, SACE, SIMEST and CDP, which on the sidelines of the meeting signed an agreement worth 200 million euros with the Development Bank of Kazakhstan.

The deepening of the solid economic relations between Italy and Kazakhstan was then the subject of subsequent bilateral meetings between the Deputy Minister and the Minister of Trade, Arman Shakaliyev and with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for attracting investments, Alibek Kuantyrov.

Ample space was dedicated to the valorisation of the commitment of the Italian Cooperation within the framework of regional efforts for the redevelopment of the Aral Sea: accompanied by the Director of AICS, Marco Rusconi, and by a delegation of SOGESID Spa led by CEO Stravato, the Deputy Minister also met with the leaders of IFAS, a regional organization for the protection of the Aral Sea basin, where they discussed an environmental redevelopment project for the Lake.

At the end of the visit, the Deputy Minister met the Italian community in Almaty, visited the offices of the Institute of Foreign Trade and the Italian Cultural Institute, the first active in Central Asia.
