Veneto: spending caps approved for out-of-hospital care 2024-2026
It will be published on Official Bulletin of the Veneto Region out today, November 15, the resolution with which the Regional Council, on the proposal of the Councillor for Health and Social Policies, Manuela Lanzarin, has approved the definition of spending limits for out-of-hospital care, turned to functional and social recovery of people with physical, mental and sensory disabilities, towards the Institutes or Rehabilitation Centers for the three-year period 2024-2026.
“The budget – he points out Alderman – follows the one, still in force, for the three-year period 2021-2023, by virtue of the extension provision, expressly contained in the resolution of that time, an extension that we also foresee for the end of 2026 with the aim of guaranteeing providers, if necessary, the possibility of planning their activity without interruption”.
“In the three-year period 2024-2026 – he adds Lanzarin – we have dedicated a significant amount of money to adequately respond to the primary care needs of people affected by this type of disorder. This amounts to 93 million euros, of which 30 million 871 thousand for 2024; 31 million 201 thousand for 2025 and 31 million 201 thousand for 2026. It should be noted that the access points that will provide rehabilitation activities have increased from 20 to 26, including accredited rehabilitation centers and facilities and outpatient centers.”
The Institutes or Rehabilitation Centers for people with physical, mental and sensory disabilities – pursuant to art. 26 of Law no. 833 of 23 December 1978 of the Veneto Region offer extra-hospital assistance aimed at the functional and social recovery of people with physical, mental and sensory disabilities.
The main diagnoses treated concern diseases of the nervous system, mental disorders, congenital malformations, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the circulatory system and diagnosis relating to poorly defined signs and morbid states.
The main disabilities treated are of the following type: locomotor, communicative and behavioral, but those relating to them are also managed to body composition, dexterity and personal care.
The services provided by the Rehabilitation Institutes and Centres are cycles of full-time or daytime hospitalization days, assessment visits, diagnostic day visits, outpatient or extramural sessions for single or group patients, single-professional home sessions.
During the year 2023, a total of 10.197 minor users and 5.886 adult users were taken into care, for a total of 21.762 treatments provided, 77.328 services provided and 438.000 days of presence.
