The municipality of Campobasso participates in the “Heart Project” of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità.

THEIstituto Superiore di Sanita and Ministry of Health have been engaged for years in the surveillance, prevention and fight against diseases not transmissible, as well as in the search for the causes that determine them, also through the conduct of investigations aimed at describing the state of health of the adult population in Italy.

In 2023 a new survey has been launched which aims to evaluate the distribution of risk factors for non-communicable diseases and the prevalence of some risk conditions (such as arterial hypertension, obesity, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, etc.), favoring the identification of the areas in which it is necessary to implement prevention, diagnosis and assistance strategies.

The investigation takes place in various Italian regions. Within the Molise Region, the Municipality of Campobasso was chosen to participate to this new population survey.

Starting from January 2024, men and women aged between 35 and 74, randomly selected among residents of the Municipality of Campobasso, will receive an invitation to participate in the survey by postal letter. The people who take part in the survey are subjected, free of charge, to tests (measurement of blood pressure, weight, height, blood sampling, urinalysis) and the collection of information on lifestyles through questionnaires at the A. Cardarelli Hospital in Campobasso . The investigation is coordinated by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and promoted by the Ministry of Health.
