In Foggia the monitoring committee of the Ministry of the Interior to support initiatives to restore legality

The Committee to support and monitor the action of the extraordinary commissions appointed in the municipalities dissolved due to mafia infiltration met.

During the meeting the active and planned projects the next initiatives.
It met yesterday in Foggia, at the Municipality, with the participation of the Prefect of Foggia, the Committee for supporting and monitoring the action of the extraordinary commissions appointed in the municipalities dissolved due to mafia infiltration and in the municipalities brought back to ordinary management, established at the Department for Internal and Territorial Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, for a meeting with the municipal administration newly installed following the outcome of the recent electoral consultations at the end of October.

During the meeting, the various projects launched by the body were examined and a series of initiatives were planned to effectively support the municipality of Foggia in path to restoring legality, in continuity with the action carried out by the extraordinary commission during the management period.
The support actions that will be undertaken, with the involvement of Prefecture of Foggia, will be aimed in particular at supporting the implementation, monitoring and reporting activities of PNRR projects, with particular reference to those relating to urban regeneration which involve the peripheral areas of the city and the Ferrovia and Candelaro districts, also the subject of attention under the public safety profile within the measures, "high impact", carried out by the Police Forces; to facilitate coordination with the other Administrations holding PNRR resources in relation to the contributions assigned to the Municipality of Foggia; the possibility for the Municipality of Foggia to refer to the group of expert managers of the Department for Internal and Territorial Affairs, for the matters of competence, operating within the aforementioned Committee and to the strengthening of the training activity of municipal staff through sessions dedicated training courses to be carried out also for the benefit of the other municipalities in the province.

During the meeting, there were also examine the other critical issues concerning the city of Foggia relating to housing policies, the restoration of the functionality of recently vacated public buildings to be allocated to those entitled to them, the initiatives taken by the local authority in the environmental sector and the implementation of surveillance services by the local police.
The Committee has also envisaged, in agreement with the Prefecture of Foggia and the municipal administration, subsequent meetings to evaluate the implementation of the agreed measures, also for the purposes of their possible remodulation in relation to new needs that may emerge.
The Mayor of Foggia, in expressing appreciation for the initiative implemented by the Ministry of the Interior, for the concrete support offered, confirmed the commitment of the municipal administration to continue incisively with the action to restore legality and administrative transparency initiated by the extraordinary commission, acknowledging the full institutional synergy that exists with the Prefecture of Foggia and with the other local institutions with a view to significant positive momentum in favor of the Foggia community.
