The meeting of the "Permanent institutional table on issues relating to the Slovenian linguistic minority in Italy" took place yesterday at the Ministry of the Interior, chaired by the Hon. Undersecretary Wanda Ferro, delegated by Minister Piantedosi.
The Head of the Department for Civil Liberties and Immigration, Prefect Laura Lega, participated in the roundtable, together with the Central Director for Civil Rights, Citizenship and Minorities, the Presidents of the Associations representing the Slovenian community in Italy, the managers of RAI and the competent Administrations in matters relating to the protection of the Slovenian minority.
The meeting took place in a climate of fruitful discussion and with a view to full dialogue and active collaboration on the part of all the Administrations present and the Associations representing the Slovenian minority.
Undersecretary Wanda Ferro, on the sidelines of the meeting between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, declared that “After yesterday's important meeting between President Giorgia Meloni and Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, the meeting of the institutional table at the Interior Ministry represented an important and qualified moment of discussion for the solution of a series of issues on which there is a strong commitment from Minister Piantedosi, and which highlights the Government's attention towards the Slovenian community in Italy and its diversified needs.”
Multiple themes addressed during the meeting and taken up by Undersecretary Ferro “Among the main topics addressed, the solution to the problem of inserting diacritical characters in all documents and certificates issued by the public administration, with the discussions introduced with the Ministry of Health regarding the health card and with the Department for Digitalisation”, he has declared.
“During the meeting we also dealt with the problems relating to school sizing and the teaching of the Slovenian language in schools in an extremely constructive spirit, as well as the desired increase in the hours of radio and television broadcasts in the Slovenian language by Rai, with the necessary technological adaptation, considering the important investments made in recent years by the public service and the valorisation of Slovenian-speaking professionals"he continued Wanda Ferro, delve deeper into the objectives and share them during the meeting.
