A project curated by the city's Environment Department and Ceas
Oristano, the environmental project "The search for Biodiversity" is underway.
Environmental education project has started “The search for biodiversity” by 'sEnvironment Department of the Municipality of Oristano and Watch.
The project, winner of a tender from Region, is concentrated in the territory of the Municipality of Oristano and in Torre Grande marina where, in particular along the dune strip, actions will be undertaken aimed at enhancing the territory and protecting the biodiversity present.
Among the activities envisaged by the project are an ecological cycle ride, a visit to the biodiversity garden, an environmental aperitif, an ecological walk, a nature excursion, the establishment of a biodiversity protection area and educational activities in schools.
“The delicate dune system behind the beach represents an ecosystem that deserves greater protection as it is subject, during the summer period in particular, to high anthropic action which causes damage to the flora and fauna – specifies the director of Ceas Antonio Ricciu – Through a participatory process, the target audience will be directly involved in the various phases of the project which includes not only dissemination, training and educational activities, but also concrete protection actions in the field to be carried out in direct contact with the natural environment. The project intends to offer the community experiential paths capable of encouraging the birth and development of an ecological awareness, and of influencing those cultural factors that determine behavior, in order to reawaken the sense of belonging to the territory and the propensity to take care of it ”.
“This is a project that is part of the municipal policies for the environment and the protection of the territory, especially for the benefit of the sites that require a high level of protection due to the fragility of the ecosystems present – adds theEnvironmental Councilor Maria Good natured Zedda – Furthermore, it integrates well with the da project 700 thousand euros recently financed by the Region for the environmental redevelopment, restoration and protection of the dune system of the Torre Grande beach. With the activity of the Ceas we can enhance the active and participatory involvement of citizens who can become protagonists and guarantors of the protection and safeguarding of the natural heritage. On the other hand, the decorum and protection of places can be achieved above all if the citizens are the first to guarantee them".
