Sassari, bituminizing works continue in the Latte Dolce district

A new face will finally be given to the neighborhood: goodbye to bad roads.

Sassari, bituminizing works continue in the Latte Dolce district.

Ten years after the last maintenance interventions, the road system of the Latte Dolce district is finally starting to change its face, thanks to the funds allocated by the municipal administration in December. The interventions concerned not only the main roads affected in recent years by the Abbanoa works, first of all via Colombo and via Bottego, but also other streets in the neighborhood which were seriously damaged, such as via Mazzarello, via Bianchi and via Solari.
As is known, the state of the roads had been severely compromised by Abbanoa's interventions, which began and were never completed due to some disputes with the carrying out companies. In December, after repeated unsuccessful reminders, the municipal administration had ordered the managing body to promptly eliminate the general state of danger in the bad roads, specifying that, in case of inaction, it would intervene directly and charge the costs to the same. Abbanoa. This will carry out interventions shortly in Gessi and Martin Luther King streets. The Municipality has decided to intervene in the other streets without waiting any longer, entrusting the safety works which have been completed in recent days. “The Municipality will continue to urge the Managing Body to carry out its role, first of all having to avoid further emergency replacement interventions by the Administration already involved in many other fronts of the city” underlines the councilor for Mobility Infrastructures and Budget, Carlo Sardara.
The one who intervened was the same company already operating in the neighborhood and involved in the work on the tender for the suburbs. Thanks to the guidelines of the current Administration, the insertion of the route of the newly built cycle path into the urban fabric occurred organically, safeguarding the existing car parks and allowing the resurfacing of a large part of the road pavement, which was not initially foreseen. These include the works underway in via Cedrino, in via Vivaldi and in via Cilea where, to increase safety, a raised pedestrian crossing near the church of Santa Maria Bambina has been introduced and is nearing completion.
The new schedule of road and sidewalk maintenance interventions includes further activities in Latte Dolce, including the redevelopment of via Bellini. All this, however, must take into account the completion of the Abbanoa construction sites, to avoid intervening on roads which will then be subject to further works for the laying of pipes and water connections, as could also happen in via Colombo.
