“Tourism of roots” the new project to strengthen the bond with the approximately 80 million people in the world of Italian origin.

Il Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, and the President of ITA Airways, Antonino Turicchi, will present to the Farnesina tomorrow the Agreement between the MAECI and the relevant Italian airline, signed in recent days, which is part of the project “Roots tourism”.

“From the beginning of my mandate I wanted to strengthen the bond with the communities of Italians abroad, but also the services dedicated to them, to encourage tourism in Italy, to discover the places of origin of their ancestors” commented Tajani, who underlined that “the concessions that will be offered by ITA Airways represent a demonstration of the strong bond between the Italian productive fabric and its compatriots and Italian descendants in the world”.

“This initiative strengthens the ties between Italians living abroad and their homeland and offers concrete advantages for rediscovering one's roots" declared Antonino Turicchi, President of ITA Airways, who continued: “ITA Airways is proud to support such a significant project with global reach, thanks to our international and intercontinental network”.

Negotiated under the program “Italea Card”, also known as “Passport of Roots”, the convention will offer Italians and Italian-descendants around the world discounted rates on the purchase of airline tickets. Users will be able to access the discounted rates through the italeacard.com website, where a special box will be inserted which will link to the offer page on the Company's website. The Convention, which strengthens consolidated and structured institutional collaboration, it also allows the launch of joint promotional activities between Farnesina and ITA Airways, in order to increase the visibility of initiatives linked to Roots Tourism.

2024 is the Year of Italian roots in the world: the agreement demonstrates the shared desire of the MAECI and ITA Airways to strengthen the bond with the approximately 80 million people in the world of Italian origin.
