Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni released some statements after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob.
“We are both aware of how Schengen was an extraordinary achievement to be preserved. The common commitment is to restore the ordinary border regime as soon as conditions allow it", commented the Premier after the meeting with the Slovenian Prime Minister.
“We are aware of the difficulties that arise for our cross-border communities from the reintroduction of border controls that Italy and Slovenia have had to adopt to face the security challenges that arise from the current international situation, from the growing migratory pressure on our borders”. “I want to thank Prime Minister Golob for confirming Slovenia's decision to support the candidacy of Rome at Expo 2030″ the prime minister said.
“Minorities, the Italian one in Slovenia and the Slovenian one in Italy, are a topic that is close to our hearts, on which we have agreed to keep a constant channel of dialogue open, a constant constructive discussion” he continued Giorgia Meloni.
Regarding the collaboration between Italy and Slovenia he declared that they are "two neighboring states linked by a rich history but above all by a rich and beautiful future" and "there are very important relationships, almost like an alliance, especially at a European level but also for future initiatives, which we have talked about, for example for humanitarian aid to Gaza".
The the Slovenian Prime Minister released some statements, following the meeting with the Prime Minister, hoping that aid to the population of Gaza will be implemented as soon as possible and recognizing gratitude for the initiative and collaboration of the Italian government.
