The Municipality of Oristano will intervene with a 140 thousand euro project for the maintenance of the Resistance Park in Viale Repubblica.
The Regional Department of Environmental Protection accepted the contribution request presented by the Municipality of Oristano and granted the contribution that will allow the execution of numerous maintenance works.
“Our objective is to encourage the spread of an environmental and sustainable culture by maximizing the possibility of impacting a large number of recipients, in order to stimulate basic physical activity in the open air – explains Mayor Massimiliano Sanna -. We want to create a space capable of generating encounters, thinking of the little ones through sand and water games, capable of stimulating and developing children's curiosity, imagination and manual skills".
“The Viale Repubblica Park is the most important equipped green lung of the city, much loved and frequented by many Oristano residents – underlines the Councilor for the Environment Maria Bonaria Zedda -. It has an area of 25 thousand square meters, hosts tall trees and trees and shrubs, an artificial lake and can be walked along paths that require maintenance work. It is equipped with children's games, spaces equipped with seats and waste collection bins, a fitness area, public lighting, a video surveillance system and a dog area. The financing will allow us to intervene to renovate the internal walkways, which are disconnected and have steps that do not allow complete accessibility for people with disabilities. The construction of an equipped fitness area, the maintenance and replacement of existing games and the creation of a new play area with spaces dedicated to sand and water in the open air, the planting of new tall trees, the replacement of damaged or missing furnishing elements, benches and baskets, the reconstruction of the irrigation system (where necessary) with the use of a soil humidity detection system and positioning of drinking water fountains. The completion of the perimeter hedge and a stability study on the tree specimens are also planned."
The interventions will be completed by 2024.
