Olbia, the Mayor's solidarity with the Air Italy protest in Porto Cervo
Mayor Nizzi: "Maximum solidarity with the employees, their cry of pain cannot go unheard"
Olbia, following the protest that took place today in Porto Cervo, the mayor of Olbia Settimo Nizzi shows all his solidarity with the former Air Italy workers.
«The situation is dramatic. The liquidation of the Company has placed a serious threat on the civil life of our community. In a few days, precisely from 1 July, the 1.400 Air Italy employees will find themselves without a contract and without redundancy pay in a period, moreover, in which the economy has been brought to its knees by the pandemic. We feel the cry of pain from these people like a punch in the stomach. We hope that the meetings scheduled between today and tomorrow, that of the shareholders of Air Italy and the second summit with the ministries, the Regions, the unions, the liquidators and owners of the former Meridiana, will lead to the extension of the employee redundancy fund until 31 December 2021, waiting for the parties to find a definitive solution for the relocation of workers".
