An agreement was signed on May 14th in Rome, at the Conference Hall named after Giacomo Matteotti in Palazzo Theodoli. memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting principles of legality also in the automotive sector. between the Ministry of the Interior - Department of Public Security, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport - Department for Transport and Navigation - General Directorate for Motorization - and UNASCA,

The agreement, which will be signed by the Central Director of Specialties of the State Police - Prefect Renato Cortese, by Eng. Pasquale D'Anzi – General Director for Motorisation, for services to citizens and businesses in the field of transport and navigation and by the President of UNASCA Andrea Vannucchi, testifies to the joint commitment in promote training and awareness initiatives to strengthen levels of legality and safety, in particular in the context of the nationalization of vehicles coming from abroad and the related administrative procedures.

According to 2023 data, they were 175.000 vehicles imported into Italy from the EU, of which 82% were used. The agreement aims to combat international traffic and vehicle recycling, with particular attention to the prevention of "false nationalizations“. This activity is often resorted to by specialized criminals who, with fraudulent systems, insert themselves into the procedures for regularizing foreign vehicles on Italian territory, to re-register vehicles that are the proceeds of crime, thus equipping them with Italian documents and license plates.

The agreement also provides for the definition of specific operational plans to involve other administrations, bodies, associations and private entities in achieving the set objectives, guaranteeing a concrete and measurable commitment towards the prevention of illegality in the automotive sector.

This long-term commitment underlines the parties' determination to pursue a common objective of safety and legality, fundamental for the protection of citizens and for the promotion of a fair and transparent market.
