The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajani it was yesterday at Matera for the General States of Cultural Diplomacy, annual meeting of the Directors of the Cultural Institutes organized by the Farnesina to study in depth the strategy and lines of action for Italian cultural promotion in the world.

“Culture is an extraordinary engine of growth. It is worth 300 billion euros and provides work to 1 million people,” explains the Minister. “At the Farnesina we are carrying out a very detailed program to present abroad a cultural offer that respects Italy's enormous heritage and we do so by also involving our territories: it is therefore no coincidence that today we are in Matera, already European Capital of Culture and with a strong international vocation,” he concludes. Tajani. The previous editions took place in 2022 in Naples and in 2023 in Florence.

The conference is divided into two days of seminars and debates, in which the directors of the Italian Cultural Institutes take part, aimed at exploring the theme of the renewal of the cultural offering of the Italian Cultural Institutes, the importance of communication and the internationalization of the territory.

- Italian Cultural Institutes (IIC) are present in the main capitals and cities of the States with which Italy maintains diplomatic relations and are a meeting and dialogue point for intellectuals, artists, cultural partners and for Italians and foreigners who want to establish or consolidate a relationship with our country. The network is currently composed of 88 locations spread across five continents.

The work of the Italian Cultural Institutes contributes to increasing Italy's credibility in contemporary cultural production and to supporting Italian cultural and creative industries, in order to contribute to the growth of the entire Italian economy. As emerged from the latest Symbola-Unioncamere survey, culture has in fact a greater impact on the rest of the economy. multiplier effect equal to 1,8: this means that, for every euro produced by culture, 1,8 are activated in other different economic sectors, such as tourism and transport.
