The Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, visited yesterday the International Flight Training School (IFTS) to Decimomannu (Cagliari), created thanks to the collaboration between the Italian Air Force and Leonardo.
“Collaboration between the Armed Forces and national industry, the search for economies of scale and the ability to operate and train together with international allies and partners have become essential to address emerging challenges. This is also possible through the creation of cutting-edge training centers, such as the International Flight Training School,” said the Minister Crosetto on the sidelines of a visit to the Decimomannu air base, home to the international flight school for military pilots.
With over 400 workers employed, of which the80% Sardinians, the IFTS represents a model of excellence in the training of pilots for 4th and 5th generation jets.
The current ones 73 visitors, coming from all over the world (13 countries, including Italy), can achieve advanced training thanks to the use of a training system that allows integration between ground simulators and M-346 aircraft during flight missions. Using the system Live Virtual Construction (LVC), military pilots can train in a particularly challenging and complex environment, which combines reality, virtual simulation and artificially constructed scenarios.
Il Decimomannu Training Center meets the growing demand for training for military pilots of 4th and 5th generation jet aircraft.
