Lombardy Region: Councilor Beduschi, 8,5 million to increasingly green Lombard companies.
The Lombardy Region will finance with 8,5 million euros 840 agricultural companies that have applied for interventions dedicated to the environment and climate as part of the National Strategic Plan of the CAP 2023-2027. This was announced by the Councilor for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Alessandro Beduschi.
“These are – comments councilor Beduschi – the so-called SRA interventions, aimed at encouraging numerous actions in favor of the environment, such as the introduction of low-impact agricultural practices and activities, for the protection of water, soil and biodiversity but also for the conservation of native animal breeds threatened with abandonment".
The recently closed tender concerns the 2023 campaign and companies eligible for financing will receive the contribution annually, for five years, i.e. until the end of the commitment period.
These, in detail, are the financed interventions: SRA03 intervention (adoption of reduced soil tillage techniques) 64 applications – 441.200 euros; SRA intervention 08 (sustainable management of permanent lowland meadows for the purpose of safeguarding biodiversity) 8 applications – 78.317 euros; SRA 14 intervention (breeding of animals belonging to breeds at risk of extinction and genetic erosion) 75 applications – 269.751 euros; SRA 22 intervention (better water management in rice fields) 86 applications – 1.012.000 euros; SRA29 intervention (conversion from conventional agriculture to organic agriculture) 310 applications – 2.993.593 euros.
Added to these are 316 applications for the SRA 06 intervention, for the annual sowing of 'cover crops' for 3.762.224 euros admitted with reservation, pending the approval of the changes to the National Strategic Plan of the CAP for Italy.
“With these interventions – continues Alessandro Beduschi – hundreds of Lombardy agricultural companies will be able to continue their commitment on the environmental front, which, moreover, already sees our sector at the forefront and with performances well above the European average”. “The objective – he concludes – is to allow them to combine environmental sustainability and economic sustainability, guaranteeing healthy, quality food for everyone”.
