Lombardy Region, Rolfi: "100 companies in 100 days to see the needs first-hand"

First appointments today in Brescia and Cremona. Governor Fontana was present at some stages. On Wednesday the tour stops in the Bergamo area. “Zero bureaucracy objective”

Milano, 05 June 2020 – “Lombardy agriculture needs concrete interventions to address the economic emergency caused by Covid. I will visit 100 farms in 100 days to see firsthand the needs of the sector and in some of these stages President Fontana will be at my side. The real economy cannot be governed by remaining closed in a building. I will therefore spend the months of June, July and August in the fields of Lombardy to listen to our entrepreneurs, get to know our companies better and calibrate the Region's interventions". This was said by the regional councilor for Agriculture, Food and Green Systems, Fabio Rolfi, who, today, was at the Regina Del Bosco snail farm run by two young girls from Passirano (BS) and at the Carioni dairy in Trescore Cremasco (CR). On Wednesday the councilor will visit four other companies in the Bergamo area.

Highly innovative and eco-sustainable companies

“In Lombardy – the councilor recalled – highly innovative and eco-sustainable companies. Today I met two young sisters from Brescia who manage a heliciculture company which is a national excellence for product quality and a dairy which pays particular attention to food safety and consumer well-being". “The institutions' task – she continued – is to lend a hand to these entrepreneurs to make themselves known and to be increasingly competitive on the market”.

The priority for companies is simplification

“The priority of Lombardy's agricultural companies – the councilor recalled – is bureaucratic simplification. The Lombardy Region aims to completely eliminate excess bureaucracy to leave farmers in the fields without wasting their time with too much 'paperwork'". “The problem – he added – is that regulatory complications often concern national and European competences”. “At the moment – concluded Councilor Rolfi – we have received vague answers from the Government, but we will continue to ask for maximum simplification for our entrepreneurs”
