Italy Abroad in the Mission of Undersecretary Tripodi in Paraguay
The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mary Tripodi, is from Monday 28 October in Paraguay, Where will conclude his mission in Latin America.
Ad Assumption met with the Deputy Foreign Ministers Victor Verdun and Commerce Rodrigo Maluff, with whom he explored the main themes of the bilateral agenda, including political relations, consular and cultural issues, as well as relations with the European Union, global issues and major international crisis scenarios. There were fruitful exchanges of views on trade relations and mutual investment opportunities, with particular attention to the defense sector and cooperation in the field of civil aviation.
On the sidelines, the Undersecretary signed with the Minister Angie Duarte il Tourism Action Plan, also in view of the flow of tourists and faithful linked to the Jubilee. During the mission, Undersecretary Tripodi met with the representatives of the Italian community residing in Paraguay.
"With the last stop in Asunción, another productive Latin American mission comes to a close, following the recent one of Vice President Tajani in Argentina and Brazil. The Government demonstrates concretely that the strengthening of relations between Italy and Latin American countries is a priority with solid foundations also in the constant political presence in the region" commented the Undersecretary, who added “In just two years we have given new impetus to bilateral relations, focusing on economic diplomacy, investments, cooperation, legal diplomacy and signed memoranda of understanding in various areas, in addition to having held several political consultations in numerous countries. We are also preparing a large Italy-Latin America conference, scheduled for Rome in 2025, with the direct involvement of Latin American members”.
