Grosseto, the Dog beach is born for four-legged friends and their owners.

Inaugurated, in the presence of the mayor of Grosseto and the councilor for the environment Erika Vanelli, the new Dog beach on the north beach of Marina di Grosseto.

Education and training

A service that was created following the numerous reports received in recent years by the Environment office, which highlighted some incorrect behavior on the part of dog owners.

The new Dog beach is aimed at providing services, culture and dog education, but even more, training and information to dog owners, thanks to the professionalism of I Toscagnacci – Professionisti bestiali, the group of dog educators of the Melograno cooperative, which is entrusted with the management of the area.

Leisure place

“Dog beaches – explain the mayor and councilor Vanelli – are not intended to be places where dogs are left uncontrolled, but rather places of leisure where owners choose to bring their animals to take advantage of additional services, because they are clean places and dog-friendly, because they can get help in case of difficulty or simply advice on how to enjoy the beach better."

“An important seaside resort – conclude the two politicians – such as the Grosseto one, cannot and does not want to limit itself to offering stretches of beach for free wild use, but must make these spaces pleasant for dogs and owners to rest and must primarily safeguard the environment , animal welfare and the human-dog relationship”.

The activity of educators

The service, active at the beginning of the month, includes the presence of educators (dog experts) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, who will have the task not only of supervising and enforcing the rules, but also of informing about the service, give advice, prevent possible accidents between dogs, help with socialization and management of the leash and use of lead lines.

Furthermore, the educators will propose fun activities for dogs and owners, aquatics (for a correct approach to water), initial assessments, consultations and will carry out a control action to ensure that the dog's psychophysical well-being and the environment are respected.

Collaboration with local associations

The project also includes the possibility of setting up collaborations with associations present in the area, for demonstrations or otherwise, and also with bathing establishments adjacent to the beaches. Water bowls, toys, leashes, leashes and harnesses will be available during the service.
