Farnesina: Tajani in Berlin for the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, it will be in the next few hours Berlin to participate in the work of Conference for the reconstruction of Ukraine, the most important annual event to discuss economic support, reforms and reconstruction of Ukraine and which Italy will organize in 2025.
«The Italian Government is firmly committed to supporting the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine, as demonstrated by the large and qualified presence of our business system in Berlin. It is a topic that we have also placed at the center of our G7 Presidency: We expect concrete results from the Conference and we are ready to take up the baton to organize it in Italy in 2025", commented Tajani, who underlined that Italian bilateral assistance, net of military assistance and the contribution to European assistance, so far amounts to over 2 billion euros.
Deputy Prime Minister Tajani's mission will open with a system event at the residence of the Italian Ambassador in Berlin entitled “The road to URC 2025: Italy for the reconstruction of Ukraine”, in which approximately forty Italian companies, associations and institutions with a particular profile towards Ukraine will participate, including ICE Agenzia, SACE, SIMEST, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Confindustria.
The. will be held on June 11th first meeting at ministerial level of the Donor Coordination Platform for Ukraine, while the opening ceremony will subsequently take place in the presence of the German Chancellor Scholz, of the Ukrainian President Zelensky, of the President of the European Commission von der Leyen, of the President of the European Council Michel.
During the day of June 11th, Tajani will sign the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding on Sponsorship for the reconstruction of the City and region of Odessa, aimed at establishing a general framework of cooperation and coordination with the Ukrainian authorities in order to maximize efforts and capabilities to contribute to the reconstruction of Odessa and its region after the conflict. The closing session of the Conference will be held on 12 June with the handover ceremony to Italy, which will organize the event in 2025, in which the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs will take part Edmund Cirielli.
They will take part in the Conference Heads of State and Government of 77 countries: overall it is expected that there will be around 1800 participants. 500 companies will be invited, of which 150 German, 150 Ukrainian, and 200 from other participating countries. The objectives of the Conference are to mobilize international support for the country's resilience, recovery and modernization and provide assistance to implement recovery projects, as well as create appropriate conditions for business to encourage private sector investment in Ukraine.
