Easter, Sangiuliano visits the Colosseum: «Over 2023 million visitors in 12».
The Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, went today, on the day of Easter, at the Colosseum Archaeological Park. Accompanied by the Director Alfonsina Russo and by the Director General of Museums, Massimo Osanna, visited the Flavian Amphitheatre.
«In 2023 there were 12.212.000 visitors to the Colosseum Archaeological Park, a significant increase compared to the 9.312.000 in 2022 with an increase of approximately 24%", the Minister announced on the sidelines of the visit, recalling that the museums remain open during the Easter weekend.
"In general - he added - we have an increase in visitors in almost all museums and archaeological parks, but the Colosseum stands out in this figure together with Pompeii and the Uffizi".
«The season that unfortunately was experienced in past years in which there was the so-called "Easter mockery" is over: many tourists came and found some of our nation's museums closed. This didn't happen for the Colosseum but somewhere it did. Now the sites are all open, they were also open at Christmas and New Year because it is necessary to respond to the requests of the many tourists", underlined Minister Sangiuliano who concluded: "I am here ideally to shake hands with all the workers who who provide their work and who with their commitment and passion guarantee the usability of our national heritage by interpreting Article 9 of the Constitution".
