The sixth annual meeting of the Joint Committee for Development Cooperation took place yesterday, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs delegated to International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli.

The sixth annual meeting of the Joint Committee for Development Cooperation took place yesterday, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs delegated to International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli.
Also on this occasion, in line with the directives of Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, Africa was the main recipient of development interventions, with a focus on the sectors of food security, health, education and training aimed at professional inclusion. In particular, the Committee approved the allocation of 8 million contributions as a gift aimed at the continent (Mozambique, Sudan and Burkina Faso). An increase in resources was also provided for 2023 programming for Tunisia, a priority country for Italian Cooperation amounting to 2,5 million.
The Committee also approved an update to the 2023 programming, which will make it possible to transfer resources from the development projects channel to that of emergency interventions, with particular focus on mitigating the effects of the war on Ukrainian and Palestinian civilians. For the Balkan area, a contribution of 2 million euros for strengthening preparedness and response capabilities disasters in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Finally, the Committee expressed a favorable opinion regarding two initiatives proposed by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti: the financing, through the West African Development Bank, of projects linked to the agricultural and agri-food supply chain and the refinancing of a line of credit in Latin America and the Caribbean, to support investments in environmental sector and the fight against climate change.
