'Calabria for young people', provision of sports vouchers to all young Calabrians aged between 14 and 24.

“From Wednesday 13 March, the measure will be active 'Calabria for young people' which will allow the provision of sports vouchers to all young Calabrians aged between 14 and 24".

This was announced by the vice-president of the Calabria regional council with responsibility for the branch, Giusi Princi.

"Is the first time - Princi later underlines – that in Calabria such an important measure is reserved for sport. The purpose of the notice, for which, in this first phase, 800 thousand euros have been allocated, is to encourage the active participation of young people residing in Calabria in practicing sports at gyms, sports centers and schools. The voucher will be worth 500 euros and will be paid out through Calabrian sports clubs and associations."

Through a specific platform prepared by Sport and Health, in the context of the protocol signed with the Region, all Calabrian sports entities will be able to apply, from 13th to 28th March, inserting the guaranteed sports offer (disciplines, type of sport).

The second window of the measure will, however, be opened after 28 March and will be intended for young Calabrians who will be able to choose the disciplines, the structures in which to practice sports (even more than one discipline), on the basis of the range indicated, first beaten, by sports associations and clubs.

The sporting activities that can be activated within the voucher quota must be completed by the month of February 2025.

“It is a virtuous model – highlights Princi – with which the institutions guarantee the right to sport through important synergies such as the one launched with Sport and Health. It is a measure, which we strongly wanted and designed together with president Roberto Occhiuto, to bring young people closer to the practice of sport, also as a tool for relational aggregation and overcoming psychological fragility. With the precious work of the education department, led by Maria Francesca Gatto, we are working to shortly extend the notice to all children/young people aged between 6 and 13. Considering sport essential to guarantee the right to citizenship and the fight against social exclusion - concludes Vice President Princi -, I want to reassure the many young people and all sports associations that the vouchers for access to sports practice will be guaranteed every year as , we will make this measure structural."

The interested Calabrian associations and sports clubs (ASD and SSD) will be able to submit their candidature, from 12pm on the 13th, and until next March 28, using the appropriate platform which can be reached at the following link: https://bandi.sportesalute.eu, identifying themselves through their digital identity (spid).
