Brescia, renewal of street trees

Brescia, The municipal administration has planned, for the autumn and winter 2020-2021, to proceed with the redevelopment of some streets of the city by renewing the street trees.
Specifically, the interventions will concern via Risorgimento in the north-west area, via Cantore in the north-east area, via Gatti in the south-east area, via Zima in the Center area and via Bianchi in the south-west area.
Via Risorgimento, a recently urbanized road that enters the neighborhood, has a double row of Hibiscus which, with the passage of time, has thinned out. Considering the existing underground services and the numerous infrastructures (small sidewalks, cycle path, etc.), compatibly with the actual situation, we tried to reconstitute the row using the same kind of trees with modest growth and generous flowering.
In via Cantore we will proceed with the removal of the Acer negundo, now at the end of their cycle, replacing them with new specimens of Cercis siliquastrum, with intense pink flowers, which will be placed in the large central flowerbed. At the same time, the row on the south side will be integrated with other plants of the Crataegus genus.
In via Bianchi the last Acer saccharinum will be cut down, often subjected to drastic pruning due to the frequent breaking of the branches due to the fragility of the wood. They will be replaced by specimens of Ginkgo biloba which in autumn take on a straw-yellow colour.
In via Gatti the last Robinias will be removed which, due to grafting dissimilarities, were found to be very fragile and subject to crashes. In their place there will be Quercus, Acer, Platanus and many bushes. The new green furniture will reconstitute the green backdrop starting from via Gussago up to via Zammarchi. In the central via Zima we will try to reconstitute the Prunus row trying to make it compatible with the very limited spaces and the presence of parking and transit. The copious flowers will adorn the street in future springs.
In the small and little-known municipal garden in Via Piemonte, trees of the Sophora genus will be planted which, with their foliage, will bring shade and refreshment to the benches and games installed in the park.
The tree balance is therefore positive: following 102 fellings, the city will be enriched by 213 tall trees and 110 shrubs, for a total of 323 new plants.
