Brescia, projects for the renovation of libraries respecting the original historical structure

Brescia, The municipal administration has evaluated, together with A2A Calore & Servizi Srl, various technical solutions to improve the conditions, which are not comfortable from the point of view microclimatic, of the municipal libraries, reported by some users especially in the hot season. The interventions will concern the Casazza library, the Torrelunga library, the Parco Gallo library, the Prealpino library, the Sereno library and the San Polo library.

The solutions identified take into account both technical and economic evaluations to find a sustainable compromise between improving the microclimate and respecting the context pre-existing building, to create minimal environmental impact.
Particular attention has been paid to historic buildings, for which interventions have been studied that do not alter the original structure.

The hypothesized design solution, which will be the subject of further study in the executive design phase, was shared between municipal technicians and technicians of A2A Calore & Servizi Srl as part of the framework contracts for the supply of the energy service through district heating and the energy service contract for district cooling, as the summer air conditioning system is connected to the heating system.
The fee paid by the Municipality for the supply of the energy service for district cooling will be made up of three quotas: a fixed quota based on the cooling power supplied by the systems, a variable quota based on the cooling energy consumed and a contribution quota for the investment for the construction of internal systems.
The overall cost of the interventions and the management of services for the six libraries, once the work is finished, will amount to 77.853,45 euros per year (excluding charges).
The refrigeration energy production systems, including all the construction works necessary to complete the intervention "in a workmanlike manner", will be built and managed by A2A Calore & Servizi, including the supply of electricity with users registered in its name. society.

TIMING
The construction of the plants will take place in two lots of three plants each.
1st lot – by December 2020 for the systems of the Casazza library (summer 2020), the Largo Torrelunga library (summer 2020) and the Parco Gallo library.
2nd lot – by June 2021 for the remaining plants.
