Brescia, Inauguration of new residence for the elderly

Brescia, Today we are inaugurating a new residential community for the elderly, in the location of via Giancarlo Zappa 22, between the historic San Polo and Sanpolino, in a position very close to the RSA “Arici Sega”, managed by our “Brescia Solidale” Foundation.
The Mayor of Brescia Emilio Del Bono and the councilor Valter Muchetti also intervened at the presentation which was carried out by the President of the Foundation Dr. Giacomo Mantelli in the presence of the General Director Chiara Benini and the Health Director Gianbattista Guerrini.

There are also coordinators and operators of the service, representatives of the local voluntary associations and Presidents of the neighborhood councils of San Polo Case, San Polo Cimabue and Sanpolino. Don Marco Mori, Parish Priest of San Polo, blesses the structure.
The structure is the result of the renovation and connection of two residential buildings owned by the municipality, previously uninhabited and disused due to construction defects.

They have been renovated and transformed into a single structure with common areas and specific services for the elderly. This is an assisted living solution for 24 elderly people with a slight loss of self-sufficiency plus four protected apartments for an additional 8-12 elderly people, for a maximum total of 36 beds.
We managed, overcoming the bureaucratic criticalities and the final difficulties caused by the health emergency, to "regenerate" these buildings and to "bring back" to the city the 20 guests of the former Villa Palazzoli, who were temporarily hosted within the Requesti di Foundation. Gussago.

The proximity to the RSA Arici Sega and with other services managed in this specific area of our city ("Primavere" day center, "Bird" residences and "Arici" protected apartments, home services, living environment adaptation service and family assistants desk) and the same presence of adjacent realities such as the Auser Center and the Pampuri Center, will allow the development of synergies and innovations in the social and health-care fields for the benefit of the elderly, activating the complete chain of support in aging.

The Residential Community is one Authorized Particular Offering Unit as an experiment by ATS of Brescia, for which around 2018 places have been activated throughout our province since 650; our Foundation already manages several for the city's elderly, both at "Villa De Asmundis" in Desenzano del Garda and at the "Achille Papa" facility in the Badia district. They are so-called "light residential" structures that the Lombardy Region is taking as a model for new developments in social services aimed at elderly people with a slight loss of self-sufficiency.
