Ancona: the motion to refinance the national fund for combating Nutrition and Eating Disorders was unanimously approved.
Refinance the National Fund to combat Nutrition and Eating Disorders. This is what the IV council commission of the Municipality of Ancona asks for unanimously approved the motion committing the Mayor and the council to refinance this fund, established with a budget of 25 million euros for the years 2022 and 2023.
Thanks to the budget law n. 234 of December 2021, eating disorders were recognized as a separate category and with an independent budget compared to that allocated to the treatment of psychiatric pathologies. This recognition would have made it possible to provide free services and services and to request exemption for "binge eating disorder", including it among chronic disabling pathologies. According to data provided by the Ministry of Health for the period 2019-2023, over 3 million people are being treated for anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder.
In line with many other Italian Municipalities, therefore, the municipal councilors of the Health Commission - united - ask that the Region and the Government intervene, in support of minors and adults (for the most part - 87% - of the female gender and in particular girls of young age) affected by these disorders and their families, refinancing the fund to encourage specialized care and assistance services and centres.
