ACSA Agreement Signed Between Italy and Japan

The Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, signed on November 25th in Rome the Agreement CASA (Acquisition and Cross-Service Agreement) with the Japanese Foreign Minister, Takeshi Iwaya, to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the respective countries in the defence sector.

"Today we celebrate a moment of great importance for the relations between Italy and Japan, a bond founded on common values ​​such as democracy, peace and international cooperation. The signing of the ACSA, an instrument aimed at facilitating acquisitions, supplies, exchanges in the military field and to promptly mobilize aid in case of emergencies and natural disasters, marks not only a strengthening of our operational capabilities, but also a significant contribution to regional and global stability" said the Minister Crosetto who then added: “Logistics is at the heart of every modern operation, and our collaboration will allow us to develop innovative, sustainable and efficient solutions. This will allow us to optimize the resources of our Armed Forces and respond promptly to global challenges, such as the management of humanitarian crises, natural disasters and the protection of security in international trade routes”.

"The agreement we are signing today has a value that goes beyond the strictly technical scope: it represents a mutual commitment to build a safer and more prosperous future for generations to come. The G-CAP program also fits into this framework, a concrete example of how nations founded on the same system of values ​​can join forces to address the complexities of the contemporary world, promoting innovation and stability on a global scale" explained the Minister Crosetto.

“I am convinced that this collaboration will contribute not only to the growth of our respective defensive capabilities, but also to the creation of a positive and lasting model of international cooperation,” said the Minister stressing that “Italy and Japan, together, demonstrate that the strength of diplomacy and dialogue can produce concrete and beneficial results for all”.
