Piacenza: Carabinieri checks on construction sites, 7 illegal workers found and fines raised for a total of almost 220 thousand euros
In total, almost 220 thousand euros in fines and penalties and seven construction companies have been suspended from their construction site activities. 7 undeclared workers, and almost 132 thousand euros of unpaid contributions recovered from 31 workers. These are the numbers of the control activity carried out in January 2025 by the Carabinieri of the Piacenza Labor Inspectorate Unit. The accesses, the investigations and inspections involved 19 companies (17 construction companies, an agritourism business and an agricultural company) all with registered offices in the city and province. Eight of the company owners were reported to the judicial authorities. 5 companies was adopted provision for the suspension of construction site activity, while the overall fines amount to almost 220 thousand euros (€219.813).
The most frequently found violations were failure to draw up a risk assessment document, failure to carry out medical examinations and training for workers, application of the provisions and requirements of the workers' safety plan, and allowing workers without specific training and education to use elevating work platforms. Five construction companies were caught providing employment to 7 illegal workers and, in particular, one company employed over 30 workers supplied by another company that concealed an illicit contract for work. Over 131 thousand euros were the contributions recovered that had not been paid.
