Piacenza, Carabinieri lifesaving interventions: two tragedies averted thanks to teamwork.

An effective teamwork between Carabinieri of the Piacenza Radiomobile, health personnel of 118 e State Police allowed, on December 9th, to avoid two tragedies in the Piacenza area.

In both cases, the speed of interventions and the ability to manage crisis situations have made it possible to provide assistance to people in serious psychological difficulty who had demonstrated suicidal intentions.

San Nicolò a Trebbia: Elderly woman rescued thanks to call location

The first intervention took place around 11:00 in a house of Saint Nicholas in Trebbia, where one 74 year old woman, in an evident state of confusion, had repeatedly expressed the desire to take his own life.

The woman, after having contacted the Piacenza Operations Center, had interrupted the communication without providing either his personal details or precise information on his location.

Thanks to trace of a previous phone call and the call location, the Carabinieri managed to locate the house and reach it quickly.

On site, the 74-year-old was found in a state of confusion and was assessed by the health workers 118, while refusing to be transported to the hospital.

Fundamental at this stage was the relational emergency management: the military contacted the daughter of the woman, resident in Milano, encouraging a direct dialogue that helped reassure the elderly woman.

Hearing the daughter's voice, combined with the presence of the rescue forces, made it possible to calm her down and make her safe, avoiding more serious consequences.

Rottofreno and Piacenza: A man in crisis after a romantic disappointment.

The second episode occurred around 20:30, when the COT of the Piacenza Police Headquarters requested the support of the Carabinieri for a case of attempted suicide.

A man living in Piacenza had expressed to the operator of the power plant his intention to carry out an extreme act following a disappointment in love.

Once on site, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile established a direct dialogue with man, gradually managing to calm him down and to make him understand that, although intense, the negative emotions did not justify an irreversible choice.

After the emotional containment phase, the healthcare personnel took charge of the man, accompanying him in first aid for the necessary clinical evaluations.

Both interventions have concluded without tragic outcomes, thanks to professionalism, operational readiness and the synergy between law enforcement and healthcare workers.

Episodes that testify to the importance of presence on the territory and the ability to intervene not only on an operational level, but also on a human and relational level, offering concrete support in moments of greatest fragility.
