Penne: fraud on the elderly, the Carabinieri arrest 2 people aged 19 and 24.
By delegation of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Pescara, the Carabinieri of the Penne Company, in the province of Naples, supported by the territorially competent commands of the Arma, have executed an order that provides for the precautionary custody in prison, issued by the GIP of the Court of Pescara, against 2 people, a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old, with criminal records, both seriously suspected of being responsible for "fraud" to the detriment of elderly people.
The investigations of the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Penne Company, directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Pescara, have allowed them to collect serious circumstantial evidence in relation to the involvement of the 2 young people in the commission of fraud against elderly people resident in the Province of Pescara, acquiring evidence of guilt against the two arrested in relation to episodes that took place in the municipality of Penne (PE) last September.
The execution method was always the same. Posing as a postal worker, insurer, lawyer or Carabiniere, the "telephone operator" said that a family member had to pay off a debt for the "collection" of a package or that a child had caused a road accident, that the insurance had expired and therefore, to “fix” things, it would have been
necessary to hand over money or jewellery.
Subsequently, an accomplice came to collect what was requested from the victims' home, who only hours later, speaking with their family members, discovered the scam.
The two, in competition with each other, had contacted a local elderly woman by telephone telling her that they belonged to the police force and informing her that her daughter had been in a road accident: she had hit a man risking prison and to avoid this she had to pay the sum of €8.000.
The scam was not carried out because the 75-year-old woman, thanks also to the numerous information campaigns carried out by the Carabinieri and the Prefecture of Pescara,
he interrupted the communication and telephoned the Carabinieri of Penne.
On the same day, with the same modus operandi, the two arrested had also consummated a scam against an 82-year-old woman, having €4.200 delivered, money later recovered by the Carabinieri and returned to the victim.
The military, thanks to technically complex investigations, have collected elements of guilt in relation to the criminal conduct of the perpetrators of the crime who, leaving from Naples with rented cars, chose the victims through searches done on the web.
