Pescara: He declared that he had come to Italy for tourism reasons, rejected and repatriated

On Saturday 12 October 2024, the men of the Pescara Air Border Police led by Deputy Commissioner Dino Petitti proceeded to the rejection of an Albanian citizen.

The subject landed at the Pescara airport on board Wizz-Air flight W45085 coming from Albania (Tirana). At the time of border controls, the foreigner, with no criminal record, he declared that he had come to Italy for tourism reasons, for which the agreements do not provide for the issuing of a visa.

The traveler's response did not convince the operators, who therefore decided to delve deeper into the interview with increasingly targeted questions. The foreigner thought he could take advantage of the agreements that do not require a visa for short-term stays for tourism purposes and thus be able to enter the territory in the hope of finding work as a truck driver.

In light of the total lack of requirements to be able to stay, entry into the territory was denied and the return trip on the same plane was promptly organized, with the help of the airport manager. Therefore, the foreigner was boarded on the next Wizz -Air flight W45086 scheduled to depart from the Pescara airport.

This activity follows a careful and constant monitoring of arriving passengers who are denied access to the territory due to a lack of documentation, proof of the requirements related to the type of stay or because they are overstayers, i.e. because they have remained in the Schengen territory beyond the terms permitted by law.

Border control activities, Since the beginning of October alone, they have led to the rejection of 4 Albanian citizens, 1 Kosovar and the arrest of 1 Italian citizen.

The latter was arrested as soon as he landed on 10 October on Ryanair flight FR982 from London, because he was the recipient of an execution order that will lead to him serving more than a year for drug dealing.

Border activities, in addition to checking the identity of travellers and the authenticity of documents, are aimed at ascertaining and applying the measures in place for passengers and, in the case of foreigners, the requirements required to be able to access and stay on national territory and in the Schengen area.
