Pescara: armed robbery at the post office, arrested in Pesaro.

Moments of fear last 20 January 2025 at the 'Post office in via Luisa D'Annunzio, in Pescara, when a man, with face covered by neck warmer and hood, broke in armed with a knife, taking in I hold a customer hostage and forcing operators to hand him the money in the cash register.

After taking possession of the loot, the robber fled on foot, disappearing into the surrounding streets, towards the sea.

The investigation and identification of the robber

The timely intervention of the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of Pescara he immediately started the investigations, which were initially made difficult by the fact that the criminal was travestito and it seemed left no traces.

The investigators proceeded with technical surveys at the crime scene and acquired the images of the video surveillance systems, both the post office and the public and private cameras in the area.

Through the 'video analysis, crossed with the telephone traffic, it was possible rebuild the escape route:

• After the robbery, the man was taken away undisturbed by bus towards the centre of Pescara.
• Afterwards, he left the city with a private passage.
• In some camera frames you can see distinctive physical features, as one receding hairline and beard, which have allowed for confirm the identity of the suspect.
• The man was also caught at the bus stop with a blue envelope e different clothes, sign of a change of clothing to avoid recognition.

The arrest in Pesaro

Based on the elements collected, theJudicial Authority of Pescara requested one precautionary measure, welcomed by the GIP, which issued a precautionary detention order in prison for the 51 year old resident in Teramo, domiciled in Francavilla al Mare, already known to the police.

Research has taken a turn in morning of February 5, 2025, when, thanks to the Telephone user monitoring, the robber was tracked down in a hotel in Pesaro, where he was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Pescara Company, with the support of Local Operational and Radiomobile Unit.

After the formalities of the rite, the man was taken to Pesaro prison, where it will remain at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.

The investigations will continue to verify any connections with other criminal episodes in the area.
