i Carabinieri of the Pescara Company, thanks to their timely intervention, saved a 39-year-old about to throw himself off the “Filomena delli Castelli” bridge on the river saline, on the border between Montesilvano e City of Sant'Angelo.
Specifically, a passerby contacted the single emergency number "112", reporting to the Operations Centre operator Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Pescara to be near the Saline River Bridge. The man described a woman dressed in black, leaning on the outside of the guardrail, with the staring into space.
Given the gravity of the situation, a Carabinieri patrol was immediately sent to the scene. Once they arrived, the military demonstrated high clarity and readiness: they approached the woman discreetly and, with a sudden gesture, they managed to save her, bringing her back onto the roadway.
Once reassured and assisted by the military, the woman let herself go into a liberating cry, squeezing the hand of one of the Carabinieri and saying: “Thank you, you saved my life.”
Subsequently, the medical staff intervened on site 118, which provided the woman with the first care and transported her to theCivil Hospital of Pescara for further medical insights.
Thanks to timely intervention by the Carabinieri, a tragedy was avoided, demonstrating once again the value of preparedness and humanity in emergency situations.
