Cepagatti: They rob a jewelry store unaware of being filmed by municipal cameras, arrested

On the occasion, a fake customer, who had already shown up in the previous days in order to gain the full trust of the owner of the jewelry store, last November 27, 2024, he had entered the commercial establishment and had naturally headed towards the owner and, under the pretext of having to collect some boxes from the vehicle that had parked nearby, had induced him to open the armoured door and thus allowing his accomplice, disguised and armed with a gun, to enter the jewellery shop.

Under threat of the gun, They had taken possession of all the gold on display and quickly disappeared on board a car, driven by a third accomplice, unaware of having been captured by the municipal video surveillance system. A passerby who had witnessed the scene, he told investigators the model of the car in which the robbers had fled. From here on, a constant investigative activity carried out by the aforementioned Carabinieri, initially allowed the car to be identified, thanks to the video surveillance system, the witnesses, the analysis of telephone traffic and the viewing of other city cameras, allowed the circle to be closed.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Pescara, which coordinated the investigations on the basis of the elements collected, submitted a request for precautionary measures to the Preliminary Investigations Judge of Pescara who, agreeing with the investigative activities carried out, issued a provision against the suspects by arranging for them the intramural precautionary measure deemed the only one suitable for the precautionary needs. It must also be said that the Carabinieri of the aforementioned Operational Section in execution of a provision issued by the Judicial Authority of Pescara, they had already carried out house searches against the individuals believed to be responsible for the robbery at the jewelry store. On that occasion, the military had found in the home of one of the suspects the clothes used during the robbery and, in the apartment of another suspect, a “Molotov” type device consisting of a bottle containing flammable liquid, sealed with adhesive tape to which was attached a large firecracker equipped with a fuse.

On that occasion, the man found in possession of the explosive device the purposes of which are currently being examined by investigators, had been arrested in flagrante delicto for possession of explosive material. The two arrested, transferred to the Pescara District Prison as ordered by the Judicial Authority, will have to answer for the crime of aggravated robbery in competition.
