Perugia: Online scams, 9 people reported by the Carabinieri for an overall unfair profit of approximately 6.500 euros
I Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Perugia, in addition to the activities of territorial control, conducted in a preventive manner by the dependent departments together with the other numerous institutional activities, are paying ever greater attention to those who, frequently, surf the net, for the most diverse needs, thus being exposed to possible contacts with ill-intentioned people, of whom they could become victims. computer crimes.
In this perspective, for the cases described below, the military personnel from the local territorial station commands have identified and reported them at large to the Public Prosecutor's Offices of Perugia and Spoleto 9 Guests, all resident in other regions, with the exception of one, held responsible for fraud, consumed via the web, to the detriment of unaware citizens who live in the below-mentioned locations of Perugia.
In detail, following separate and accurate investigations, it was ascertained that:
- valfabbrica: a 48-year-old woman, pretending to be the complainant's daughter, under the pretext of having to buy a mobile phone, fraudulently had the sum of 996 euros paid onto a Postepay card in her name;
- Bevagna: a 24-year-old, after having published an advertisement for the sale of alloy wheels on an online platform, had the sum of 320 euros credited to him via bank transfer made by a 67-year-old local man, products that were never delivered to the buyer;
- pietralunga: a 20-year-old and a 46-year-old woman, used trickery and deception to induce the complainant, a 68-year-old local man, to make a bank transfer of 800 euros in their favour in relation to the purchase of a car engine advertised on an internet site and never received;
- Bastia Umbra: a 36-year-old, after having contacted the complainant, a 32-year-old local man, by telephone, induced him to make two top-ups on a current account registered in his name for an amount of 2.000 euros and then made himself untraceable;
- Cascia: a 19-year-old posted an advert on an online platform for the sale of a washing machine at a price of 274 euros, receiving a bank transfer from the complainant, a 57-year-old local woman, without ever shipping the goods; a 61-year-old and a 47-year-old, in competition with each other, promising a job with easy earnings on a social platform, had the total sum of 1.876 euros credited to two prepaid cards registered to them in different transactions.
- Perugia: a 21-year-old, at the end of a sale of car parts, after having received the sum of 54 euros from the complainant, a 186-year-old local man, did not send the goods and became untraceable.
The episodes described constitute a useful opportunity to inform citizens about the dangers of the web and invite them once again to immediately contact the Carabinieri Stations distributed throughout the 59 municipalities of the province or send reports to the Single Emergency Number - NUE - 112, so as to allow for timely and decisive investigations to be carried out in relation to such underhanded conduct, useful for being able to trace those responsible for such crimes.
