Assolo (Oristano), thanks to the infallible nose of "Rea", an explosive-sniffing dog, the Carabinieri seize various ammunition and drugs

At the first light of dawn a few days ago, the Carabinieri of the Oristano Company, in collaboration with those of the Canine Unit of the Helicopter Squadron "Cacciatori" of Sardinia, within the scope of the intensification of crime prevention and repression activities ordered by the Provincial Command, right in the run-up to the Christmas holidays, they carried out a search inside a private residence in Assolo (OR) seizing various rounds of ammunition of various calibers (3 cartridges cal. 9, 17 cal. 24, one cal. 20 and one cal. 30.6 Springfield), all held in the absence of any police license, a device suitable for loading powder into cartridges and approximately six grams of a narcotic substance of the marijuana type.

The activity was made possible thanks to the proverbial nose of "Rea", a female German Shepherd from the Canine Unit of the Squadrone Eliportato Cacciatori di Sardegna who, on other occasions, has allowed the discovery of weapons and ammunition hidden in inaccessible places. A 63-year-old man, already known to the police, was reported at large to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Oristano because he was held responsible for illegal possession of ammunition and reported to the Prefect of Oristano as a user of narcotic substances.

This is communicated in compliance with the rights of the persons under investigation and the presumption of innocence, as far as it is known at the moment, subject to further investigation and pending judgment. The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Oristano continue to carry out checks, especially for the prevention and repression of illicit trafficking of weapons and narcotics, also with the help of the canine units of the Carabinieri Cacciatori Squadron of Abbasanta (Oristano).
