The definitive project for the redevelopment of the historic center has been approved.

The Sanna Council, on the proposal of the Councilor for Public Works Simone Prevete, approved the definitive project of one million 524 thousand euros for the redevelopment works of the historic centre.

The Mayor Massimiliano Sanna: “With the funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan we are intervening on the urban redevelopment, roads and areas of the historic center that have not yet been the subject of intervention. The interventions, which began only after the reopening of Piazza Manno, concern via Vittorio Emanuele II, via Ciutadella de Menorca, via Carmine and via Francesco Crispi. The extensive program of interventions carried out by the Municipality in the historic center is therefore completed and which today also involves Piazza Manno and Via Episcopio, in order to restore importance and decorum to spaces that are part of the historical memory of the city".

The Councilor for Public Works Simone Prevete he specifies: “The works will start only after those in Piazza Manno have been completed so as not to create further inconvenience. The approved design solution aims to conform, from an architectural point of view and the materials used, to the existing one, interrupting the process of architectural fragmentation that characterizes the paving present in the historic centre. Starting from the detailed plan of the historic center and integrating information on the cultural, social and functional aspects of the axes subject to intervention, a proposal was defined which, in addition to resolving critical issues that go beyond the simple restoration of urban decorum, intervenes on aspects such as the removal of architectural barriers, the elimination of areas of promiscuity between pedestrians and vehicles and the redefinition of some roadways with the aim of making them more responsive to their respective functions".

For Via Vittorio Emanuele II, which in the detailed plan of the historic center is defined as an "identity axis" as it is part of the Sartiglia route, the redefinition of the roadway is envisaged by maintaining the current width for a large part of the development of the roadway and in a section The widening of the pavement surface.
“The new configuration will allow the Sartiglia to be held in conditions of greater safety thanks” specifies Councilor Prevete.
New road pavement and sidewalks will be built. The new basalt pavement is uniform with that of via Duomo, creating a single identifying axis. The new sidewalks will be made of granite and will have the same characteristics as via Duomo.
A new road pavement and a definition of the pedestrian space are planned for Via Ciutadella De Menorca. The new flooring will be composed of basalt slabs of the same size while the pedestrian areas will be defined by the installation of cast iron bollards that can be dismantled according to needs.
For Via Carmine – Vicolo Arcais – Vicolo Lamarmora the redefinition of the roadway includes parking in some points and the creation of a pedestrian crossing adjacent to the Carmine. The new road pavement will be made of basalt cobblestones while the spaces intended for pedestrian traffic will be made of basalt ashlars and will be positioned at the same level as the roadway, so as not to create interference with the existing accesses. The intervention is completed with the complete redevelopment of Vicolo Arcais and the part of Vicolo Lamarmora which overlooks Piazza Martini where the construction of a new paving in basalt blocks is planned.
In via Crispi, the roadbed will be redefined, bringing the surface of the roadway to a constant width of 3 metres. The new road pavement will be made of basalt cobblestones while the spaces for pedestrian traffic will be made of basalt ashlars and will be positioned at the same level as the roadway, so as not to create interference with the accesses overlooking the street.
A renovation of some technological networks is planned: strengthening and arrangement of the sewerage and white water disposal network, preparation of underground cable ducts for the elimination of the ENEL and Telecom overhead networks, complete reconstruction of non-compliant sewerage connections, a new white water disposal system.

Approvato il progetto definitivo da un milione 524 mila euro per la riqualificazione del centro storico.
