Messina, programming for Christmas 2022.
Present the Mayor Federico Basile and Councilors of its Executive, during a press conference the imminent programming of the Christmas 2022 edition was announced, through the presentation of the first step relating to the public notice for the selection of musical and scenic arts proposals, within the project "ME I.3.1.c “CARD SME SUPPORT" POC Metro Messina 2014-2020, promotional plan “Messina City of Music and Events” – demonstration “Messina, the Christmas of Rebirth“. Opening "today's appointment - said the Mayor Basile - is to announce to the City the start of the programming of Christmas hoping for everyone's participation to animate Messina during the Christmas and end-of-year holidays, aiming to involve all the entities present in the area from the center to the villages, suburbs and neighborhoods, through a marketing policy and activitiesng aimed at allowing the restart of the city's economic and entrepreneurial fabric put to the test by the pandemic period". Christmas in Messina "will have as its main theme - he concluded Basile - the pedestrianization of an area of the city with the aim of relaunching Messina to make it a protagonist“. With regards to programming, theCouncilor Carlotta Previti "we decided to meet the press today because – underlined theAdvisor - We want our expression of interest to have the widest possible diffusion with the aim of involving the entire citizenry. The Christmas of this 2022 edition will in fact be a Christmas shared with the entire city area. If this Municipality can benefit from significant financial coverage it is because there is a project called, Messina City of Music and Events, in which music represents the common thread aimed at attracting tourist flows. The events will also continue in the periods following Christmas , the theme will always be music, but not only".
L'Councillor Massimo Finocchiaro added “pTo make Messina attractive it is essential to schedule events in order to attract citizens and tourists and promote an important aspect of our society such as aggregation".
Through the publication of the Notice, the Municipal Administration has started an exploratory procedure aimed at collecting proposals and the possible selection of agencies and economic operators in the sector as well as individual artists, bands, orchestras, choirs, musical and theatrical companies, and associations which to confer through direct assignment the implementation of musical proposals, performing arts, events with street artists, art collectives, and exhibitions. The initiatives and appointments will take place in the period between8 December 2022 and 6 January 2023. The proposals must act as a driving force to increase the number of presences in the area and will be selected based on their ability to attract the public and create a potential economic return on the activities of the metropolitan area and on the related productive activities and distribution. Associations, dance companies, theater companies, companies and/or agencies for shows and events, and professional artists in possession of the following requirements are eligible to participate: registration with the former ENPALS management (for professional artists) and proven experience in the relevant sector. The proposals may concern one or more of the areas, even in the form of an "event package", for the minimum expected duration of 1.5 hours, from pop, rock, rap, blues, jazz and electronic music; to folk, ethnic and traditional music and dance; choral and polyphonic music; symphonic and chamber music; dance and ballet; theater; and other performing arts.
