Paolo Sorrentino: the plot of his new film about Partenope has been revealed.
The Oscar-winning director, now making his tenth film, will begin filming at the end of June between Naples and Capri. The work, still untitled, is written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino and produced by Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment di Fremantle, Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, Sorrentino for Numero 10 and Ardavan Safaee for Pathé. Italian distribution is still being defined.
The plot:
The film will tell the life of Partenope, who bears the name of her city, but is neither mermaid nor myth. Her long life embodies the entire repertoire of human existence: the carefreeness of youth and its end, classic beauty and its inexorable change, useless and impossible loves, stale flirtations and dizzying passion, nighttime kisses on Capri , flashes of joy and persistent suffering, real and invented fathers, endings and new beginnings. All this is accompanied by the passage of time, the most faithful of boyfriends. In a Naples that fascinates and enchants, that shouts and laughs, and that knows how to hurt you.
The cast:
The main cast of Sorrentino's new film includes Luisa Ranieri, who played the tormented Aunt Patrizia in It Was the Hand of God; Silvio Orlando, who played Cardinal Voiello in “The Young Pope”; Stefania Sandrelli, who was the muse of Bernardo Bertolucci; isabella ferrari ("The great beauty"); Peppe Lanzetta ("Spectrum"); alfonso santagata (Gomorrah by Matteo Garrone); Lorenzo Gleijeses (“Baby”); Silvia Degrandi (“Doc”, “Petra”); and the rookie Celeste Dalla Porta.
Two years after It Was the Hand of God, the director is not disunited:
Since 2001, with Naples and a debut film as powerful as a bomb, The extra man. After 22 years, we arrive a few days ago, with the first rumors about the new film. In all this time, many cinephiles, and not only them, have always wondered what Paolo Sorrentino's FIRST female protagonist would have been like;
Will she be blonde? Blue raspberry? Red? Smoker? Non-smoker? Ironic?
