75th Berlin Film Festival: Reflection in a Dead Diamond the film in competition with the co-production of the Italian Dandy Projects by Simona Pelliccioli.

There is a bit of Italy in competition this year at one of the most important world film festivals. Dandy Projects led by Simona Pelliccioli is in fact co-producer of one of the most anticipated titles, the new film by the Franco-Belgian duo Hèléne Cattet and Bruno Forzani “Reflet dans un Diamant mort”, screened yesterday as a world premiere.

What do you consider as a producer when choosing a narrative, what are the elements that a film must have and why did you choose to produce Reflection In A Dead Diamond?

Reflection in a Dead Diamond

“The distinctive character. Hèléne (Cattet) and Bruno (Forzani) are perfectionists of the staging. Our protagonist is an elderly man who is overwhelmed by memories of a past as a hero committed to safeguarding the planet. But the world has changed, decayed. These are no longer times of progress and beauty that characterized the sixties. In the intent a little less genre film the result is a surprising mix of visual and narrative elements”.

A long apprenticeship behind her made up of numerous collaborations among which we remember “Che strano chiamarsi Federico!” the last film directed by Ettore Scola with a team, as she tells us, that will never return, “La mia casa è piena di specchio” with Sophia Loren.

To the question “What does the production of REFLECTION IN A DEAD DIAMOND represent for you?” Simona Pelliccioli answers “it represents the first co-production of Dandy Projects and for me it represents the overcoming of those limits that were imposed on me by the 'system' even after years of collaborations. I chose to distance myself from that system to walk alone. And I have come this far”.

REFLECTION IN A DEAD DIAMOND features an international cast that includes among the main interpreters Fabio Testi, Yannick Renier as well as Koen De Bouw and Maria de Medeiros.
